Ysgol Gynradd Llanybydder is part of the Carmarthenshire County Council Healthy Schools' scheme. The project forms part of the World Health Organizations initiative European Network of Health Promoting Schools'.
Our aim is to contribute, promote and protect physical, emotional, social health and well-being of the pupils and staff by developing a health-promoting environment.
We are working hard as a whole school across seven key health topics which include:
•Food and Fitness
•Mental and Emotional Health and Wellbeing
•Personal Development and Relationships
•Substance Use and Misuse
The school is committed to promoting good health and general well being. Pupils are encouraged to drink water throughout the day, by using the filtered, chilled water dispensers.
The Fruit Shop ensures pupils eat a variety of fruit on a daily basis.
Dental hygiene and good practise when brushing teeth is strongly promoted. The Foundation
phase brush their teeth daily and work closely with the ‘Designed to smile’ team.
During the summer term pupils are encouraged to ‘Stay Safe in the Sun’
Our Year 5&6 pupils run the fruit shop. They happily prepare the fruit and handle the money. This shop encourages our pupils to eat healthily. Pupils who do not purchase from the fruit shop are also encouraged to bring in healthy snacks for break time.
Available at the school – 30p a day/ £1.50 a week
Please bring the money in an envelope to school on a Monday morning.
